Physical Description:
Callista is a solid five feet long, the average for her kind. The bottom of her tail is dark brown and gradually fades to the medium-lighter brown that makes up most of her upper body fur color. The tail is somewhat chunky, but rather muscular because her species is surprisingly fast compared to other seals and pinniped mer. Her body is also adapted to diving significantly deeper, up to almost two thousand feet. She has four beautiful ribbon-like white markings: a strip around her neck, one around her tail, and a circular marking on each body side which encloses her arms. Callista's hair is a light brown color, uncomfortably wiry, and often tangled. She tries to keep it as neat as she can, but it's the ocean so there's not much one can do. When on land it's much better, but that's only a couple times a year. Her eyes are pure black, but not eerie. She is average-sized in her figure and wears a makeshift bra.
Personality:
She has a clever mind, good judgment, a sense of responsibility, and an appreciation of the finer things in life. Most of the time she is serious-minded and not inclined to make light of things even in little ways, and in her younger years she had more mature interests than others her age. Callista desires the security of a peaceful, settled home environment where she can enjoy the companionship of family and friends. Whatever she sets out to accomplish she does her very best to complete in accordance with what she considers to be right. Although she has the urge to be reliable and responsible, she also has a superior attitude that can lead to the use of her favorite expression, "I know" when not balanced. Unfortunately, her personality has frustrated her own happiness, contentment, and success, as well as caused health weaknesses through worry and mental tension.
History:
Callista was born on pack ice in Alaska during the spring. She spent the first four years of her life depending on her mother before leaving to be on her own. It was still a few years before she left the safety of the ice, however. During this time she lost her white coloring and the dense fur on her tail. After this period, she was able to dive and hunt in the open water.
Since then, just like all ribbon seals and ribbon seal mer, Callista has been a solitary wanderer. Her domain is the Arctic parts of the Pacific Ocean. During winter and spring, she returns to pack ice at the ice front in the Bering and Okhotsk Seas where ribbon seals breed, molt, and give birth. During the summer and fall Callista rarely comes to land, preferring to live in open water. Though sometimes she moves north as the ice recedes with warmer temperatures.
Several years ago she had her first and only child but they have not crossed paths since it was time to separate.
